Browns claim former Packers S Jermaine Whitehead

It didn’t take long for safety Jermaine Whitehead to find new work.

Released by the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, Whitehead was awarded to the Cleveland Browns off waivers on Wednesday.

The Packers sent Whitehead packing less than two days after he was penalized and ejected for striking center David Andrews during the first half of Green Bay’s loss to the New England Patriots.

Over seven games and two starts in 2018, Whitehead tallied 20 tackles, two pass breakups and one sack. He spent three years in Green Bay, playing in 19 total games.

Last season, Whitehead executed a fake punt and picked up a first down during a game against the Browns in Cleveland. He also has experience with Browns executives Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith, who were in Green Bay when the Packers acquired Whitehead in 2016.

In Cleveland, Whitehead will join former Packers such as Damarious Randall, J.C. Tretter, Brian Price and Devante Mays.
